IMPLANT DENTISTRY: CLINICAL, SURGICAL AND BIOLOGICAL APPROACHES USING THE LATEST TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS

This course will focus on everyday clinical surgical implant dentistry.  Site development is of crucial relevance for a successful and predictable implant treatment. Esthetic management of the extraction socket will be explored in the light of the latest regenerative techniques and materials, focusing on both soft and hard tissue augmentation. The rationale for soft and hard tissue augmentation will be presented. Guided bone regeneration and soft tissue augmentation techniques will also be presented when dealing with deficient ridges, prior to and during implant placement and immediate temporization following biological principles. Risk factors for a successful implant treatment will be discussed. Lastly, maintenance of the healthy implant and the treatment of an ailing implant will be presented.

 

Course Objectives:

·       present techniques to develop sites at the time of tooth extraction

·       techniques to correct hard and soft tissue defects prior to and during implant placement

·       techniques to correct soft and hard tissue defects around previously placed implants

·       exposed to different approaches to restore an implant patient, including immediate temporization

·       treatment of periimplantitis and how to maintain a healthy implant.

Sebastiano Andreana, DDS, MS is director of Implant Dentistry and associate professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry, at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.   Dr. Andreana has held managerial positions in worldwide pharmaceutical and dental companies.  Presently he is on the faculty at the AAID Toronto Maxi Course and co-director of the UBSDM Implant Study Club. He has served as president of the American Association of Dental Research, Buffalo Chapter.  He is a reviewer for the Journal of Periodontology, Journal of the American Dental Association, Clinical Implant Dentistry Related Research, and Lasers in Medicine and Surgery.  He is also senior associate editor of Journal of Oral Implantology.

 

Dr. Andreana has published over 100 articles, both nationally and internationally, and presented over 100 research abstracts.
