Fundamental concepts in Laser Dentistry

Alumni Speaker Series

Thursday, November 4, 2010

1:30pm-4:30pm (3CE credits)

Technological advances are occurring more rapidly than ever before, and keeping up with the latest trends in the delivery of care can be an overwhelming and expensive task.  The purpose of this program is to clearly identify the current applications of lasers in dentistry, and to show how these compare to conventional techniques.  Differences between types of lasers, specifically with regard to wavelengths, delivery systems, and operating parameters, and how these differences affect tissue interactions and healing, will be discussed in detail.  Finally, a simplified approach to determining if a laser would be appropriate for your practice will be presented.

Topics Covered:

  • Current clinical applications of lasers in dentistry
  • Differences between types of lasers
  • Basic laser physics
  • Laser-tissue interactions
  • Current marketing claims

Recommended for...Dentists, Hygienists and Assistants.
