the Professions has mandated that, during the registration period beginning
January 1, 2008, dentists who are required to complete continuing education
must, on a one-time basis, complete a three-hour course in New York State
jurisprudence and ethics. · Identify and analyze the ethical dilemmas which commonly occur in the operation of a dental practice · Determine alternative conduct applying the ADA Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct and NYSDA Code of Ethics · Know and comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations · Maintain an interactive values-based discussion with other professionals and the community Recommended for .... Chester J. Gary, DDS ’78, JD is a dentist/attorney-at-law, admitted in New York and Florida, with a practice concentrated on issues relevant to health care providers. He is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Course Director of Practice and Risk Management, University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He serves as Editor of the Eighth District Dental Society Bulletin, reviewing editor of the New York State Dental Journal, Chair of the District Professional Liability Claims Committee, member of the Erie County Bar Association Health Care Committee, and is a fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine and the American College of Dentists. Dr. Gary has published numerous articles and lectured extensively regarding dentistry and the law.
