The New York State Office of the Professions has mandated that, during the registration period beginning January 1, 2008, dentists who are required to complete continuing education must, on a one-time basis, complete a three-hour course in New York State jurisprudence and ethics.

This course focuses primarily on case presentations of ethical dilemmas involving common grounds for ethical complaints and disciplinary actions. Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the practice of dentistry is imputed to all licensed practitioners and ignorance of the law or ethics is never a defense.

Completion of this course will improve the dentist's abilities to:
· Identify and analyze the ethical dilemmas which commonly occur in the operation of a dental practice
· Determine alternative conduct applying the ADA Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct and NYSDA Code of Ethics
· Know and comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations
· Maintain an interactive values-based discussion with other professionals and the community

Recommended for .... Dentists.
