8:30am-11:30am / 1:00pm-4:00pm (6 CE hrs)

Room 101-B

This course will give you the necessary knowledge and tools to treat difficult or otherwise unmanageable patients.  Drugs, nitrous oxide, and specific techniques that work 97% of the time for office management are reviewed, within the rules for the moderate sedation permits. Appropriate drugs and their reversals are presented for different kinds of cases. We will discuss examples of complicated cases covering medically and mentally compromised patients, from the apprehensive to the combative, and from infancy to old age. Attendees see demonstrations of techniques and equipment including handheld x-ray unit, instant-imaging and self-developing film, special wraps, mouth props, and more.

Course Objectives:

·       How treating patients who have anxiety or special-needs can be personally gratifying and professionally rewarding.

·       Learn clinical techniques for performing standard procedures on difficult, compromised, or otherwise unmanageable patients, including wraps, props, drugs, gas, portable imaging systems and more.

·       How to successfully complete a dental case in an operating room that was not possible in a dental office.
