Today’s esthetic practice requires the chairside dental assistant to be knowledgeable in more areas clinical practice than ever before.  The myriad of new materials and techniques available to the esthetic dentist require the chairside assistant to be timely and proficient to deliver optimal patient care.

The purpose of this lecture/hands-on course is to train the dental assistant at the same time as the dentist is learning these new procedures and techniques so that the clinical team can efficiently implement esthetic procedures into their dental practices immediately AND efficiently!

  • Methods of provisionalization for partial and full coverage restorations.
  • Dental materials update:  What’s new and what works well.
  • Techniques to deliver bonded dental restorations.
  • Steps in making a proper facebow transfer and determining when the laboratory requires a facebow.
  • Laboratory communication for esthetic restorations.
  • Proper record keeping: making your chart medico legally correct.
  • Team building:  Working together efficiently and productively.

Shannon L. Pace Brinker, CDA, CDD a National and International Speaker, published author and a 1994 graduate of the Dental Assisting Program at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, works with Dr. John Cranham in his private practice in Chesapeake, VA. She has been a full time practicing dental assistant for over 20 years. She is the past president of the Metrolina Dental Assistants Society in Charlotte and is currently on the advisory board for the dental assistant program at Central Piedmont Community College.

 

Shannon currently sits on the faculty at the Dawson Academy where she provides both lectures and hands on programs. She is an active member of the AACD and serves as a board member for their New Member Committee.  Shannon is the first auxiliary to sit on the AACD Board of Directors. She is also on the editorial board for The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. She was the former Co-Editor-in-Chief for REALITYTEAM 'aRTie’ Publication and Inside Dental Assisting.

 

Shannon is a member of the E4D Clinical Operations Operators (ECO) group and had extensive impute for the certified dental designer CDD certification.
