UB*SDM RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY RETREAT Reassessment of Today's Restorative Curriculum for Tomorrow's Practitioners Friday, August 27, 2010 8am-4pm, Ramada Hotel & Conference Center, Getzville, NY Program Overview Current trends in restorative dentistry have been greatly influenced by advances in dental materials science; better understanding of the caries process; looking at what is the best scientific evidence to restore teeth, and minimally invasive dentistry. Is our curriculum addressing these issues? Also, are we graduating competent dentists in restorative dentistry? If so, what evidence do we have that we are? At this retreat we will review our current curriculum content concerning evidence based teaching in operative dentistry, fixed and removable prosthodontics. We will also look at our current competencies (CPE's), daily assessment of students' clinical performance and what texts should we be using to teach and in what format.
